Second, and please pardon a bit of bragging here, this donation recognizes the leadership that Cadence has provided to the entire UVM community. We spent many hundreds of engineer-hours of effort and many thousands of dollars to create this site. When we announced UVM World just over a year ago, just hours after Accellera released UVM 1.0 EA, the site already had an "ask the experts" forum and background on the methodology. We continued to invest, enabling community contributions, posting numerous contributions ourselves, and providing links to well over 100 articles, presentations, Webinars, events, and other sources of UVM information.
Please note that we made this investment not in a vehicle to promote Cadence but rather in a community site where partners and competitors could also freely discuss their products and services. If you look at the site you'll see links to many direct competitors and much participation by them in the forum. We funded and maintained UVM World for the good of the entire community, and frankly we hoped all along that Accellera would eventually view this site as neutral and important enough to assume responsibility for its evolution.
The third reason that the donation to Accellera is important is that it validates the entire concept of a true EDA community site. The forum and contributions areas prove their value every day as users find answers to their questions or download helpful applications. The collection of links to UVM resources is far more comprehensive than lists available elsewhere. Users can easily jump to a wide range of UVM content, including the official Accellera downloads, from the one UVM World site. Only the UVM blog never really took off, mostly because the candidate bloggers already had their own established sites, so we instead provided links to their relevant posts.
From the very beginning we wanted UVM World to be a "one-stop shop" for everything related to the Universal Verification Methodology. We at Cadence are very proud and excited to see Accellera accept this site. Of course, we will continue to work with other Accellera members to add more content and features over time. I hope that all of you - customers, partners, and competitors - will keep visiting and contributing to UVM World to keep it current and vital.

The truth is out there...sometimes it's in a blog.
